My review of Richard Gadz’s excellent new book, The Workshop of Filthy Creation, is now available at The Future Fire.
I always appreciate the opportunity to review a book I end up really enjoying, and in this case, my review let me share some thoughts I have about Frankenstein’s enduring power.
Most days I’ll go on record saying I think The Bride of Frankenstein is the greatest movie ever made. I think it’s better than the original, actually, though I love them both. Especially when put into the context of when they were made, both films spark with action and ideas.
Gadz’s book does, too. It’s an interesting, entertaining extension of the Frankenstein Universe. Like all good monster fiction, it forces us to question what it means to be human, and what prices we are willing to pay for the advancement of civilization.
