Devils of London
by Simon Bestwick

I’ve been busy with the holidays and getting moving–finally–on two book chapters due to editors by the end of this month, but I did have the opportunity to read and review Simon Bestwick’s novella Devils of London.

In short, the book didn’t end up being what I thought it would be. The promotional materials I saw mentioned a steampunk element–which I really like–but while there are traces of steampunk, it’s not really fair to label the book that way.

It is at least a little bit political. I wanted more of that. Other philosophical beats the book makes are steampunk in their outlook, but if you’re looking for airships and Tesla guns, you’ll need to look elsewhere.

You’re welcome to read my full review here.

Happy New Year! Here’s to a safe and healthy 2022.
